Welcome to the parish community of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. We are honor you are visiting our website.

I am Fr. John-Alex Gonzalez. A native of Colombia, I entered the seminary in 1991 in my home diocese in Colombia. I came to the United States in 1998 where I finished my studies to become a priest. I was ordained for the Diocese of Raleigh on June 1st, 2002 in Apex, NC.

I served as the associate pastor at saint Mark in Wilmington and Chapel Hill. Later, I served as pastor at the Doggett Center for catholic Campus Ministry at the same time I was an assistant vocation director and sacramental minister of sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh.

I, then went to Saint Joseph and Transfiguration of Jesus in Burgaw and Wallace, where I served as a pastor for three years.I also served as a pastor for the Mission of Transfiguration of Jesus: Santa Clara in Magnolia, NC

In the Summer of 2014, I was assigned to Saint Mary Catholic Church and School in Goldsboro, NC; and now I am serving this community since February 1st, 2019.

My passions are sports (mainly basketball, Football and soccer), languages, and travel.

We hope that on this website you will find some information that you might be looking for in regards to St. Elizabeth.

We serve approximately 600 families weekly, 410 of which are registered. This website is dedicated especially to families and those interested in our parish.  We hope it helps you find answers to your questions. If you are looking for something special on this website and cannot find it; please go to the Information and let us know what is it that you wish to see here. We are still working on making this website more friendly.


As a faith community our parish mission is to work together to "Live the Gospel; Grow in faith through the Eucharist; and Share our gifts in service to others." We evangelize within the parish through Liturgical ministries, Faith Formation ministries and Home Visitation ministries. Our parish evangelizes the Raeford and south Fayetteville community through different ministries many of which are targeted to the Hispanic Community. Our parish is the home of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 14632 as well as the Cursillo Movement, La Escuela de San Andres, El Movimiento Juan XXIII and la Cofradia Mariana.
